Dnet sensitizes Infoladies in child marriage prevention for CFLI funded project
Dnet held three sensitization workshops for its new project, ‘Child Marriage Prevention through Infolady’ in Manirumpur of Jessore, Shaghata of Gaibandha and Sariakandi of Bogra. The project, funded by the ‘Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives’ will see Infoladies working towards preventing early marriage in their community which is quite prevalent in Bangladesh.
Held earlier in January, the workshop was attended by 40 stakeholders that included Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), upazila chairmen and secretaries, political and religious leaders, local NGO officials and government officials.
Dnet Jessore hub manager Uzzal Kumar Bala facilitated the entire program. Dnet official Fazlul Kader Chowdhury explained to the audience disadvantages of child marriage and the present situation of child marriages in Bangladesh in his inaugural speech. He also went on to identify the potential role of each stakeholder group in preventing early marriage.
The UNO and OC of Manirampur vowed to help Infoldies in their work.
The other events, at Shaghata and Sariakandi were also attended by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), upazila chairmen and secretaries. Besides Dnet officials the programmes were also attended by the local stakeholders.
